Historical and Nature Tour between Mystery and Traditions

An interesting experience to offer tourists visiting both Roghudi Vecchio and Roghudi Nuovo could be a “Historical and Nature Tour between Mystery and Traditions,” combining adventure, history, and local folklore. Here's how it could be structured:

THIS TOUR IS NOT YET ACTIVE. WE ARE WORKING TO MAKE IT AVAILABLE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

1. Exploration of Roghudi Vecchio: The Ghost Village
Historical Trekking: Start with a guided hike to reach Roghudi Vecchio, crossing the mountainous landscapes of Aspromonte. Along the way, a local guide can share the historical events of the village and its dramatic abandonment due to the floods of 1971 and 1973.
Visit to the Ruins: Once there, visitors can explore the ruins of abandoned houses, the Church of San Nicola, and the narrow, winding alleys. The guide might share stories and legends, such as that of the "tied children" and mysterious tales of spirits wandering among the ruins.
Landscape Photography: Unique rock formations like Rocca del Drago and Vastarùcia offer great opportunities for photography enthusiasts to capture striking images.

2. Tasting Local Products in Roghudi Nuovo
After the exploration of Roghudi Vecchio, the tour continues to Roghudi Nuovo, where tourists can relax and enjoy a tasting of local products such as cheeses, olives, traditional bread, and wine. The local community might also showcase ancient artisanal techniques like broom weaving.
Cultural Workshop: A small workshop can be organized for tourists to learn the basics of the Greco-Calabrian language (Grecanico) or the art of weaving broom fiber — two of the area’s most cherished cultural traditions.

3. Legends and Folklore at Sunset
End the experience with an evening session dedicated to local folklore. At sunset, a storytelling session about local legends — such as those of the “Narade” or the Rocca del Drago — possibly around a bonfire, can be a magical way to immerse tourists in the oral traditions of the region.
This combination of trekking, history, tradition, tasting, and storytelling would create a rich and varied experience, offering tourists an authentic immersion in the natural and cultural beauty of Roghudi.
