* Departure from Roghudi: 8:00 The day begins with a trip to the town of Stilo, one of Calabria’s most charming villages, perched on the slopes of Monte Consolino. Visit to the Cattolica of Stilo You will arrive in Stilo around 9:30 to visit the famous Cattolica of Stilo, a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture dating back to the 10th century. This small church, with its distinctive square layout and typical Byzantine domes, is one of the most evocative examples of sacred architecture in Calabria. The visit will allow you to explore the mosaics and interior frescoes, immersing yourself in Byzantine spirituality and art. Visit to the Church of San Giovanni Theristis in Bivongi The next stop will be the Church of San Giovanni Theristis in Bivongi, an important testimony to the Byzantine monastic presence in the region. Built in the 11th century, the church combines Byzantine and Norman architectural styles, and its interior preserves frescoes of extraordinary beauty. You will learn the story of the monk Saint Giovanni Theristis and the significance of the monastery in Calabrian religious culture. Free Lunch You will have free time for lunch, with the possibility to taste Calabrian specialties in one of the local restaurants.
