Roghudi Nuovo is a locality situated in the Calabria region, in the province of Reggio Calabria. This settlement was created in the 1970s to house the population of Roghudi Vecchio, which was evacuated following severe floods that made the original village uninhabitable. Roghudi Nuovo is located along the Ionian coast, a short distance from Melito di Porto Salvo, and offers its residents a safer and more accessible location compared to the former mountain settlement.
The new settlement is characterized by a modern urban layout, with residential buildings and essential services for the community. Despite the relocation, the inhabitants have preserved the cultural and linguistic traditions of the Grecanic community, typical of the Aspromonte area. Today, Roghudi Nuovo represents an example of resilience and adaptation of a community to the challenges posed by the natural environment.
